Awesome..

Didn't know of this. Thanks Lars happy.png
1 hour is nothing wink.png
It's not only the livefeed, but also small documentaryclips, so this is quite interesting.

It is an interesting idea for a tv show, for sure. I used to work on Hurtigruten several years ago (on another boat), and I can definitely say that this program will be worth to watch if you are interested in the Norwegian coast. Especially today at around midday, because if I´m not mistaken they will be in Geiranger at around 13:00/14:00, cant remember exactly. And Geiranger is about as spectacular as Norwegian scenery gets.

Midnattsol.. I did some work on that as well.

Got a bit scared when it lost it's engine power down in the south of Norway some years ago.
Because, it was a pipe that was supposed to be galvanized and went through the hull from the engine. (Probably some ventilation or something) But the pipe that was prefabricated for the job was all carbon and not treated in any way. My boss told me to spray some sink on it so it looked galvanized.. Don't know how the bosses become bosses sometimes.

Do you mean when they allmost went aground at Stadt?
I worked with the electrician that was onboard when it happened.
He got a bit scared,i can understand that...
I dont think your pipe had anything to do with it happy.png
Think it was a error in the ship's propulsionsystem that caused it.
He told me what happened and what caused it,but i cant remember exactly.

What happened as far as I know was that the engines weren`t being cooled properly because of a design flaw that clogged the supply of sea water which cooled the engines. And there is a thermal protection that won´t let you start the engines if they are to hot. That`s why they couldn`t start the engines and that`s what almost caused an accident on Stadt in 2003.

Yeah,something like that.
Think they got air in the cooling system as a result of that too.
It does not take much air in the system before it's fucked and the pumps just suck air,and engine temperatures goes haywire.
Not fun when that happens.

Anyhow, the prop-system on those 2 boats are retarded.

I personally think that diesel electric is pretty awesome tbh. It gives more possibilities than normal diesel propulsion.

Maybe it works properly now,but when the ships were new it was far from perfect.
Its not a pure diesel electric system you know. At speeds below 12 kts it is,but above it switches over to mechanic drive.
Thats where the problem's was.
If the weather was bad they could not get enough speed with the electric system, and had too head away from the weather too gain enough speed to switch over and then turn around again.
Maybe it's been fixed now,but i know they had a fair share of problems with it.
